We are releasing a development version of cPanel & WHM for testing purposes and we want your help!
What are we testing?
We want users to test drive TLSv1.3 and OpenSSL 1.1.1 built on EasyApache 4 and cPanel. This is intended for testing/development environments and NOT production environments and may cause issues if run in production. Running this development version in a test setting minimizes any risk to your hosting environment.
How do I set it up?
The first thing you’ll need to do is upgrade your testing server to a development version of cPanel & WHM. You can do so by updating your /etc/cpupdate.conf and changing the following:
CPANEL=11.85.9999.61
The next file to update is /etc/cpsources.conf, which tells your server where to look for this development version. You can set the release tier of choice in this configuration file. To set your server up for the development version required, update the configuration file to the following:
HTTPUPDATE=next.cpanel.net
Lastly, you’ll need to replace the EasyApache4 repo file.
The contents of /etc/yum.repos.d/EA4.repo should be replaced by http://ea4testing.cpanel.net/ZC-4361-ship.repo
You’ll then need to manually update your server by running /scripts/upcp --force, and you’ll need to update your EasyApache RPMs by running ‘yum clean all && yum -y update.’ This will configure your server for the development release tier and allow you to test OpenSSL 1.1.1. When can I use this in production?
We are releasing this soon to all EasyApache 4 users; however, we wanted to allow you to try out OpenSSL 1.1.1 in a test environment before releasing widely to give the community a chance to test out the protocol and minimize risk to their infrastructure.
